Appointed Persons First AidThis course gives knowledge and understanding of: principles of first aid, action in the event of an emergency, correct method for basic life support, typical major injuries, and the action to be taken to preserve life.

Health, Safety & Fire Awareness ~ To increase the understanding of participants of, the legal framework for Health & Safety including fire and electrical safety, COSHH, RIDDOR, PPE, introduction to risk assessment.
 
Basic Food Hygiene ~ To provide participants with knowledge of basic principles of food hygiene to comply with food safety legislation, includes symptoms and causes of food poisoning, methods of prevention, hygiene and cleanliness in food premises, personal hygiene, temp control, storage of food, disinfection, Food Safety Act 1990, Food Safety Regulations 1995.
 
Death, Dying & BereavementThis course covers, understanding the theory of grief, examining beliefs and feelings, develop essential helping skills, an awareness of cultural difference in loss and bereavement.
 
Administration of MedicationsKey elements include: procedures for receipt of medicines, recording procedure, storage and handling, understanding labels, administration of medication, safe disposal of medicines, the law and medicines, drugs act, routes of administration, adverse reactions & side effects, medication administration aids, general guidance for good practice. 
 
Infection ControlThis course provides social care staff with an understanding of infection control and infectious diseases which can be dangerous. MRSA guidelines & management, risk assessment, RIDDOR, hand washing technique, safe storage & disposal, clinical waste & infection control guidelines.
